WARSAW, IN., (September 27, 2007) - As part of an industry-wide settlement affecting the five major orthopaedics manufacturers, DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. has entered into an agreement with the United States Attorney’s Office that resolves a previously reported government investigation into sales practices in the orthopaedics industry. Terms of the agreement were announced today by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of New Jersey.

WARSAW, IN – (October 4, 2007) Mobile bearing knee implants can be successfully used in a wide range of deformed knees, restoring normal alignment in 95.6% of patients with the most severe cases, according to a new study published in the August issue of The Knee, an international peer-reviewed journal. This new data provides surgeons with some of the most comprehensive evidence of the efficacy of using cementless, mobile-bearing knee implants for patients with varus or valgus deformity.

WARSAW, IN– (September 25, 2007) A systematic review of intermediate and long term outcomes of total ankle replacement shows that excellent or good results were seen in 82% of cases using second-generation ankle implants, compared to 72% of cases that used the traditional procedure of fusing the ankle. In addition, the ankle-replacement procedure resulted in a lower revision rate than the fusion procedure, according to the study.

Retrospective Multi-Center Study Shows 95.6% Overall Survivorship for Second-Generation Sigma® Knee System at 10 Years
WARSAW, IN (January 9, 2009) - According to a retrospective multi-center study published in the December 2008 issue of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (British edition), the second-generation Sigma® Knee System from DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. yielded a 10-year survivorship of 97.2% excluding infection-related revisions, and a 95.6% overall survivorship at 10 years. The new data provides surgeons with evidence of the durability of the Sigma Knee System.


DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. to Work with the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation to Fund Fellowships and Residency Programs
