A Legacy of Innovation

DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. has always stood for innovation. In fact, founder Revra DePuy launched the company in 1895 based on an innovative approach to the treatment of fractures. By introducing the first fiber splint and then the wire frame metal mesh splint, he revolutionized how broken bones were treated. Based on the tradition established in those early years, DePuy Orthopaedics has continued to consistently turn imaginative ideas into beneficial medical devices.

At DePuy Orthopaedics, we strive to identify clinical issues that can help pave the way for the introduction of novel orthopaedic solutions for Restoring the Joy of Motion™.

We continue to help reshape the orthopaedic landscape with innovative products such as Pinnacle® Hip Solutions with TrueGlide™ Technology, our Sigma® Knee portfolio, and our Anatomic Locked Plating Systems (A.L.P.S.) for the area of Trauma care.

The Sigma® Knee System allows a surgeon to select the knee that fits the patients’ life and allows them to get back to doing the things they love. Since Sigma® Knees come in a wide range of sizes, shapes and materials, surgeons can fit patients with the knee that will provide a more natural feel and movement. Also designed for contemporary knee surgery, Sigma High Performance Instruments adapt to a surgeon’s specific surgical technique, including computer assisted surgery and manual surgery, with both minimally invasive and traditional open approaches. This is DePuy Orthopaedics’ largest introduction of instrumentation in a decade.

Our Pinnacle Hip Solutions is a portfolio of instruments, advanced implants and materials. Only Pinnacle features TrueGlide technology, which works with the body to create a natural film of lubrication between surfaces of the implants, helping restore a more fluid range of natural movement and reduce pain for hip replacement patients.

Our strong commitment to the fracture fixation segment of the trauma market can be seen in our new product development Center of Excellence in Miami, Fl. We stand poised for growth with the launch of our new Small Fragment, Large Fragment and Distal Tibia Anatomic Locked Plating Systems (A.L.P.S.). Here, titanium plate and screw systems combine the benefits of locking screw technology with conventional plating techniques. This hybrid plate concept allows surgeons to stabilize fractures with non-locking screws through the plate and then obtain neutralization of the construct with locking screws.

We became a leader in the field of computer-assisted surgery in 2004, when the Ci™ system was launched. Now, DePuy Orthopaedics has further enhanced CAS solutions with the introduction of Ci™ Essential™ for total knee arthroplasty. Ci Essential is the next generation of computer assisted surgery software for total knee arthroplasty. This latest development brings even greater customizability to the system, enhancing the concept of personalized surgery to include the surgeon as well as the patient.
